Rafiee Ghani is a Malaysian artist born in 1962 in Kedah, Malaysia. He is well-known for his vibrant and dynamic still-life paintings that depict everyday objects such as vases, stools, chairs, mugs, flowers, food, and fruits. His works are characterized by their bold use of colors and expressive brushstrokes, creating a balance of composition that is both aesthetically pleasing and artistic.
Rafiee Ghani's artistic journey began with formal training at the De Virge Academie Voor Bildeende Kunst in The Hague, Netherlands. He furthered his art education at the Institute Teknologi MARA in Dungun. It was during his time in Europe that Rafiee gained inspiration and exposure to the art world. He visited renowned museums and spaces, drawing inspiration from world-class old masters like Vincent Van Gogh and Henri Matisse, and their works.
While Rafiee Ghani was formally trained in the art and techniques of print-making, it is his mastery in oil painting that sets him apart from other artists. He has been active not only in Malaysia but also on the international art scene, participating in exhibitions held by galleries and art spaces around the world.
Some of his notable exhibitions include "Room of Flowers" in 1993, "The Painted Garden" in 1996, and "Kebun Sultan" in 2002. These exhibitions showcase his talent and the way he captures the beauty of everyday objects in his distinctive and expressive style.
