" I travel extensively throughout South East Asia with a focus on rural areas. I have gained tremendous insight into the culture and lifestyles of there people.

In my paintings, i express my feelings of what i have seen and experienced.

I use watercolor in all my works as it is versatile and mobile medium. I like to paint rural people in their immediate surrounding, expressing their inspiration and hope for life."

Gm Choo has been in the batik art for over 30 years. He used to reside in Terengganu, Malaysia – where it’s rich in Malay culture, and is deeply affected by the art of batik. Choo is an artist who simply thrives in his work and none other than batik painting. ART mean LOVE, HOBBY and BUSINESS to him which he approaches with no apologies and does full time in his passive ways. He is the first Malaysian artist who promoted batik art in Singapore’s Tanglin Handicraft Centre. He built his career upon his interests, introducing the batik paintings to tourists. As batik is a unique heritage of Malaysia, Choo takes the extra effort to ensure that the process of producing a piece of batik is special – every single design is uniquely handmade and this has greatly impressed the tourists. Recently, he made yet another innovation by using wrinkling effect of paper to create a three dimensional illusion of stones and mountain scenery, he created a painting that combined both Malay and Chinese cultures. His works has lined the walls of many hotels and also of private collectors but nothing pleased him more than to see the man in the street admiring his painting.

Sharifah Fatimah - lahir tahun 1948 di Alor Aetar, Kedah. Beliau bersekolah di Alor Star dan sambung belajar di Institut Teknologi MARA (1967) dan menerima Diploma Seni Lukis (1971) dan juga menerima hadiah Pelajar Terbaik Institut Teknologi Mara. Seterusnya belajar di Reading University, England (1973-1976) dan Ijazah Sarjana Seni Lukis dari Pratt Institute, New York (1978). Beliau pernah menerima banyak hadiah dan pengiktirafan. Contohnya,anugerah Merit Tertinggi Pertandingan Rekaan Batik , daripada Balai Seni Lukis Negara (1968). Seterusnya, hadiah pelajar terbaik Institut Teknologi Mara (1971), Hadiah Universiti daripada Reading University (1976), Pratt Studio Scholar Award dari Pratt University (1977), Hadiah Utama Salon Malaysia (1979) dan Anugerah Young Contemporaries oleh Balai Seni Lukis (1981) dan Fellowship British Council (1987) Beliau adalah pelukis tersohor Malaysia 1970-an. Ratusan pameran telah beliau terlibatkan baik di dalam mahupun di luar negara. Banyak karya beliau telah dijual biarpun dalam negeri meskipun luar negara.Antara ialah,Balai Seni Lukis Negara, Muzium Negeri Pulau Pinang, United Overseas Bank Singapura, Bank Bumiputra Kuala Lumpur, Museum of Modern Art of New York, National Gallery of Fine Art Jordan, Bank Negara Malaysia dan Museum of Contemporary Art Dubrovnik Crotia.
